Why is wellbeing important?

The definition of wellbeing is widely studied in metaphysics with papers going back 1000′s of years from Plato and Aristotle attempting to theorise what it is. We strive to know more about wellbeing, because so many of us can experience our lives with only a fleeting grasp on a good sense of wellbeing.

Researchers have devoted decades to understanding what leads some people to be healthier than others. However, most people have only studied disease and disorder and failed to also address strengths and wellbeing.

Within the field of healthcare, quality of life is often regarded in terms of how it is negatively affected, on an individual level, by disease.  Our health is the state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. It is known that prolonged psychological stress can negatively impact health, and is  cited as a factor in cognitive impairment through aging, depressive illness, and the physical body’s expression of disease. Therefore by working holistically to improve our sense of wellbeing, we are opening a channel to our physical healing and prevention of DIS-ease.

Our wellbeing is at the center of many influences:

  • Our emotional state of being,
  • Spiritual,
  • Financial,
  • Social,
  • Occupational,
  • Physical state of being,
  • Environmental

Knowing that we can guide many of these influences, means that we can positively affect our wellbeing, and in turn positively affect our health.

Some questions to ask yourself regarding your personal sense of wellbeing:

  • Do you wake up feeling well rested?
  • Do you have a good level of trust and belonging?
  • Are your everyday activities valuable and worthwhile?

The good news is you can take responsibility for your sense of wellbeing, and introduce a positive dimension of personal healthcare into your life. Reducing uncertainty, by increasing knowledge and experience related to stress-causing situations, will have a positive affect on your wellbeing.

There are many tools to help you connect with your sense of greater wellbeing. The easiest to understand would be music and meditation. Holistic modality to the care of our wellbeing encompasses many aproaches from aromatherapy and essential oils, to acupunture, reiki, massage and many more. By providing a channel to connect with our personal sense of wellbeing, we release the physical body of it’s ill at ease and symptomatic problems.

Aromatherapy and essential oils has seen a great divergence of use within many new markets since using more holistic modalities in our present contemporary healthcare and lifestyles. One of the easiest methods to adopt is aromatherapy and essential oils. This is because aromas can affect our wellbeing in an ambient and broad scope of use  – analagous to the way music affects us, and is one of the easiest modalities to adopt and enrich our lives and wellbeing.
